How does GENIE work?
GENIE is your online booking agent for all your events. Whether you are an individual, an agent, or an event planner GENIE will help you find everything you need quickly and securely. Search our database for venues, performers, entertainers and services for your next event whether it be a birthday, wedding, corporate event or even a children’s party. Check out photos, videos, reviews, pricing, availability and much more to find the perfect vendors for your event. Speak to vendors through our messaging platform and book securely through GENIE.
Why do I need to create a profile?
At GENIE, trust and safety is very important to us. By creating a profile you are verifying that your enquiries are genuine. It also gives the act an opportunity to see who is booking them and confidence in the transaction.
I’m not receiving emails from GENIE. What’s the deal?
You’re probably missing out on our emails because your email service has blocked our emails as spam. Try adding us to your contact list (see below) or find your Internet Service Provider (ISP) safe list and add noreply@GENIE.com to it. You may have to contact your ISP to see what the issue might be.

How does booking on GENIE work?
Once you’ve browsed the site and contacted the vendor you wish to book, they will send you a quote. If the quote looks good, all you have to do is pay the deposit and it’s booked. Yup, it’s that easy! Check you booking request to see how much the deposit is and what the balance needed to pay is as well.
Do I have to complete the booking through GENIE?
Yes. If you are contacted directly outside our system, we encourage you to have them go back to GENIE to send you an official booking confirmation. Bookings that are not done on GENIE are not eligible for dispute resolution, secure deposit payments, verified reviews, or GENIE booking protection. GENIE offers you insurance and security should anything go wrong.
I haven’t heard anything back from my booking request. What do I do?
That’s a shame! Try sending a follow-up message. You can do that by logging in and going to your Inbox. If you still don’t hear anything, do another search and hope to have a faster response. Note that you can make more than one booking request at a time. A request only becomes binding when both you and the vendor agree on the final terms.
I need to change my event information, can I edit my existing quote request?
You sure can! Go to Booking Requests in your Inbox and select the quote request that needs to be changed. Below the event info, you’ll see a button to “Edit Event Info.” Once you’ve updated, we’ll notify the contacted vendors about the changes, and they can then send new quotes. Updating event information will cancel any quotes you’ve received up to that point.
Can I negotiate the price that is provided to me in a quote?
Of course you can. Everything is negotiable. But be respectful and understanding that everyone has a business to run and livelihood to make. Most vendors are quoting well-thought-out prices that correctly match the quality and quantity of service you desire for your event. If you would like to discuss price then make a booking enquiry as opposed to a booking request and in the notes section you can specify any details you would like regarding pricing or anything else of that matter.
How do I notify vendors that I have made a choice and it’s not them?
If you have made several enquiries to fill the same spot at your event we ask that you kindly cancel any pending requests. To do this simply go to the enquiry and click on "Cancel"
Why do I need to provide a credit card to book my event?
Payment of a deposit is required to secure a booking through our site. Your credit card details are held securely in case of any disputes after your event.
Are deposits refundable?
This depends on the vendor’s terms provided with their quote and the date of the cancellation. We encourage you to check the vendor’s refund policy and GENIE’s refund policy to clarify anything which may seem unclear.
How is the remainder balance paid?
First GENIE charges the booker a deposit of anywhere between 10% and 50% depending on the vendor or venue. The balance is to be paid directly by the booker to the vendor. The timing and logistics of this payment is totally in the hands of the booker and the vendor or venue.Using GENIE to make a reservation both parties are protected under our terms of service, cancellation policy, refund policy, and other safeguards.
What should I do if the vendor does not show up for my event?
This is not a common occurrence, but unforeseen issues can arise. This is one reason we encourage that all bookings happen through GENIE. If you book the event through our site and the vendor does not show up, we can ensure that you receive any monies due back to you. If the event is booked outside of our system, we won’t be able to help resolve issues or return deposits.
What happens if I need to cancel an event after I’ve booked a venue or a vendor?
A Booker may cancel the hire of a Venue in accordance with the following:
Cancellations may be made by the Booker up to 90 days prior to the date on which the Venue is booked. Where the Vendor has received the balance of the Payment due to the Vendor, the Vendor shall refund 75% of the Payment if cancellation is made by the Booker during the foregoing period, except for the Vendor’s processing fees of 25% which are non-refundable;
Cancellations may be made by the Booker up to 30 days prior to the date on which the Venue is booked. Where the Vendor has received the balance of the Payment due to the Vendor, the Vendor shall refund 50% of the Payment if cancellation is made by the Booker during the foregoing period, except for the Vendor’s processing fees of 50% which are non-refundable;
Cancellations may be made by the Booker up to 8 days prior to the date on which the Venue is booked. Where the Vendor has received the balance of the Payment due to the Vendor, the Vendor shall refund 25% of the Payment if cancellation is made by the Booker during the foregoing period, except for the Vendor’s processing fees of 75% which are non-refundable;
Cancellations may be made by the Booker less than 8 days prior to the date on which the Venue is booked. Where the Vendor has received the balance of the Payment due to the Vendor, the Vendor shall refund 0% of the Payment if cancellation is made by the Booker during the foregoing period, except for the Vendor’s processing fees of 100% which are non-refundable.
Does GENIE take a commission?
Yes a 5% commission fee is taken from you the booker.
How do I leave a review?
Once your event has completed you will receive an email requesting you to submit a review. Follow the simple steps and your review will be submitted to the vendor’s profile.
Can I leave a review for someone even if I did not book them through GENIE?
No. All our reviews are verified.
Is there a booking fee?
Both the booker and the vendor pays a 5% fee
